About Defect Analysis Investigations
Vartest has earned an excellent reputation for its ability to analyze defects, solve quality problems and provide conclusive reports related to fabric, garment, home furnishing products, or safety and protective items.
Because this type of analysis, testing, and report work is essentially investigational in nature, it is often difficult to anticipate the time and charges involved - especially when several technologists are required to contribute their "know how" and use sophisticated instruments and techniques. By describing the quality problem on our Defect Analysis Request Form, Clients can save some money and our time.
Consequently, Vartest has adopted the following policy:
All items accepted for Defect Investigation will incur a Preliminary Evaluation charge of $375.00. This will cover the cost of assessing the nature and extent of the problem and determining whether or not a successful resolution is probable as a preliminary defect analysis report. In some cases, only basic testing may be required; if the results are not positive, there will be no further charges. If we believe that additional work will provide a successful resolution, we will e-mail or fax a Test Request and Confirmation Form containing an outline of the next phase of testing and the approximate costs involved in providing a Defect Analysis report.
The basic fee schedule for various types of defect analysis is as follows:
* Scanning Electron Micrographs, Photomicrographs, Plastic Replicas & Special Exhibits are available at an additional charge.
If multiple confirmations of the same sample items are required, a 25% reduction for each item will apply.
Please note that the minimum time required for a Preliminary Evaluation is 5-7 working days. Due to the detail required, it is very rare that items submitted for Preliminary Evaluation can be handled on a “rush basis.” Laboratory work load may also dictate longer completion times.
Vartest has been very successful in identifying the origin and cause of many quality problems. Defect analysis reports provide meaningful final reports containing “Findings and Conclusions”. However, Vartest does not undertake to provide conclusive results in all instances. Therefore, before committing to further in-depth Defect Analysis testing, Clients are urged to determine if the costs and/or benefits involved are justifiable.
The above information, including the Defect Analysis Request Form, will be included with all relevant quotations. Work will commence only upon receipt of the signed quotation.
