Vartest is able to perform all of the required testing necessary for contract (ACT) and residential upholstery, furniture textiles, wall
coverings, drapery products, bedding, coverlets, bedspreads, etc.

Our environmentally controlled Physical Testing Department, along with our other six specialty testing areas, are fully equipped with the latest technologies, including Instron (Bluehill 3 Software), Wyzenbeek Abrasion Testers, Martindale 909 Abrasion and Pilling Tester, Random Tumble Pilling Tester, Dynamic Fatigue Testers, etc. We are accredited to run a variety of contract textile flammability tests promulgated by NFPA, UFAC, ASTM, ISO, and others.

Vartest has been an active participant in the Association for Contract Textiles for many years. We have the ability to provide unparalleled analysis of abrasion failure both with quantitative assessment of end point via two yarn breaks or by the assessment of the appearance degradation using AATCC, ASTM, and ISO standards including  photomicrographs with most reports.

** Using groupings (selected by client) of stains such as mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, corn oil, coffee, orange juice, butter, ball point pen ink and soil, and in some instances as many as 25 stains which have been tested and evaluated for one specialty report, Vartest can assess the stain repellency of contract textiles.

We are able to characterize the nature of finishes applied to contract textiles as well as heat setting temperature.
